Early release days are geared toward classroom instructors’ professional development. These partial student attendance days allow teachers to take advantage of learning opportunities without being away from their students during the instructional day. All students in Kindergarten through grade 5 attend school from 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM. See Early Education [Pre-school] Calendar for student attendance on Early Release Days. Lunch will be served – transportation will be provided to students who regularly ride the bus.
Bus or Van: Teachers will accompany students who ride a bus or daycare van out the main doors and walk them to their designated bus/van. Students are only allowed to ride on their assigned bus – absolutely NO exceptions.
Walkers/Bike Riders: Students who walk home or ride their bikes will leave the building through the main entrance at the front of the building and proceed to the playground/blacktop area at the side of the building. Parents/guardians walking or riding bikes to school should meet their students on the blacktop/playground area (not at the flagpole or front of the building).
Car Riders: Teachers will accompany students being picked up by car to Door 2; students will wait behind the cones until their rides pull forward – commonly known as “Kiss n’ Go” – see below for more specific information.
EARLY RELEASE DAYS: KISS n’ GO PROCEDURES
Kiss n’ Go refers to the process used for students arriving and departing by car. The Kiss n’ Go line forms at the school’s Miller Road entrance (entrance closest to the stop light at Miller and Huntley Roads). Drivers must approach the school in order to make a right-hand turn onto school property.
Procedures for drivers picking up children on Early Release Days:
- Drivers should not enter the Kiss n’ Go line until after 11:30 AM [2:00 PM on regular attendance days]
- All vehicles’ assigned hang-tags must be visible to the supervisors
- Drivers are not allowed to get out of their vehicles for any reason
- Move your vehicle up as far as possible to avoid large gaps between cars
- Students must enter vehicle on passenger side only
There are VERY limited parking spaces available on school property at the end of the school day. If you park on school property at dismissal time, please be aware that your ability to leave your parking spot may be significantly delayed.
